Gossip, Magic & Marginalisation
This essay explores the little-known history of the witch hunts in South Limburg and situates them within broader processes of misogyny, social unrest, early capitalism, and changing ideas about nature and knowledge. Drawing on local histories and thinkers such as Silvia Federici, it connects early modern persecutions to contemporary forms of marginalization. At the same time, it explores the fascination with magic, folklore, and alternative forms of knowledge.
