A collective manifesto for feminist art schools.

Bringing a series of intersectional feminist lectures, interviews, workshops and discussion groups back to an art school is crucial to sharing tools for emancipation and challenging the implicit criteria that structure our views and practices (identification with Western visual norms, romantic-capitalist representations of the artist-author, etc.). It is vital to give a voice to artists and those who support them in the ways in which they deal with, and even elude, relations of power.

The primary aim of this book is to share the content hosted and produced at the École Supérieure d'Art de Clermont Métropole between 2017 and 2022. It is also an opportunity to work with a group of students, artists and researchers, to think about how invitations and the production of the book can be drawn up collectively; it is a tool for collective and ideally horizontal pedagogical work within a hierarchical and hierarchizing institution. The invitations, transcription and editing of the texts were done jointly.

Curator, writer and dealer Seth Siegelaub (1941–2013) is legendary for his promotion of Conceptual art in New York in the 1960s and ‘70s.

Acknowledging the unusual scope and essentially unclassifiable nature of his manifold interests and activities, this volume shows how Siegelaub’s projects and collections are underpinned by a deeper concern with printed matter and lists as ways of disseminating ideas. The book’s chapters explore the various facets of and connections in Siegelaub’s work, from his groundbreaking projects with Conceptual artists and his research and publications on mass media and communications theories to his interest in handwoven textiles and non-Western fabrics. It also highlights his collecting activity, which culminates in a unique ensemble of books on the social history of textiles and a textile collection comprising over 750 items from around the world. The survey also reflects on current practices through contributions by contemporary artists, such as Mario Garcia Torres and writer Alan Page, who co-created a new work inspired by Siegelaub’s bibliographic project on time and causality.

With essays by art historians and curators, a previously unpublished conversation between Siegelaub and artist Robert Horvit and an annotated chronology, this comprehensive survey pays homage to one of the most distinctive characters in 20th-century exhibition-making.

The platform, free speech and contempt

PROVENCE UNCONSCIOUS deep dives into the cosmological pool that shapes the collective unconscious and takes a look at the relevance of Jung's ideas in relation to contemporary art and fashion.

PROVENCE UNCONSCIOUS draws inspiration from the Zurich-based office's proximity to the C.G. Jung Institute in Küsnacht—recently and notably visited by Pamela Anderson, who also appears in the publication. PROVENCE UNCONSCIOUS focuses on the work of three US-American artists—Mike Kelley, Matt Mullican, and Jason Rhoades—whose practices orbit around the themes of psychoanalysis and the unconscious. The issue also features collaged analog photographs of  Laura Langer's spiral paintings, and a manuscript-style dream archive: over 30 hand-written or drawn submissions by artists, curators, jungians, and writers. Additional sections include, among many other things, jewelry by Bernhard Schobinger, photographs by Calla Henkel and Max Pitegoff, and a curatorial exploration of Emma Jung—analyst and wife of C.G. Jung—shedding light on the often-overlooked feminine legacy within Jungian thought.

PROVENCE UNCONSCIOUS didn't include any cooking recipes. And no, PROVENCE is not a magazine—but if it were, it would probably be the most radical one among its contemporary art peers.

Dutch graphic designer Karel Martens (born 1939) has been an influential figure in the visual culture of the Netherlands for many decades. Alongside his commissioned projects, Martens has maintained a commitment to this personal and iterative way of printing, which shows how creative practice often spans perceived disciplinary boundaries.

For each day of this elegant 2023 calendar, Martens has created a unique abstracted form to serve as a number—originally constructed using his signature method of printing letterpress monoprints from found metal forms, which are then digitized to comprise 365 compositions in total. The piece’s reference to the daily practice of art expresses Martens’ own approach as a designer and educator: “every day is a new day.”

The fourth in a series of publications, featuring writing by graphic design students of EKA GD MA. Typing... includes essays, scripts, translations and stories on a wide range of topics: killing vowels and milling fonts, personal knowledge management, shortcuts, tedious/careful/tiring/joyful typesetting, type of Georgianness, typing in 3rab(izi) and typing in all lowercase.
