Collective Launch: Koreografi, This Container and Engagement Arts
Koreografi (NO), This Container (SE/BE) and Engagement would like to invite you to a Collective Launch of our sister projects. Engagement will launch their first zine, This Container their 7th edition and Koreografi will present two publications. In gathering the three publication initiatives we open a conversation on feminist strategies for self-publication within dance practices. There will be readings from the publications and well as open conversation on the role of feminist self-publishing within dance.
A magazine initiated and edited by Solveig Styve Holte, Runa Borch Skolseg and Ann-Christin Berg Kongsness. The magazine consists of texts written by Nordic artists within the field of dance and choreography. Currently in its second edition.
This Container (SE/BE)
Edited by Maia Means and Chloe Chignell
This Container is an open host for texts and documents that come through and alongside choreographic thinking. It’s a recipe, but not for eating; a sequel to everything up until now; horizontal tourism; many feminists’ elegy; opinions weakened with time; an inaudible lesbian opera; a future ballet manifesto; dances and desires; cheating discipline; purposely misplaced; only poems; statements and speculations; a diagram for artistic research; and an incomplete encyclopaedia of random knowledge and dear dances. This Container takes shape according to its content, without organising through prominent narratives or figures, this container wants to weave, leaving holes and threads between the forms of writing.
Engagement Zine (BE)
In its first edition, the zine made an open call to artists and activists to submit material for publication. The zine is edited through a collective zine atelier designing by hand the contributions and the publication for print. http://www.engagementarts.be/en
Hosted by Engagement Arts and rile*.
rile* is a bookshop and project space for publication and performance. rile* is into poetry, theory, choreography, artist writing and various other text based experiments. rile* organizes performances, meetings, launches, readings... rile* is the base word for silence in Láadan, a feminist constructed language developed by Suzette Haden Elgin in 1982. The language was included in her science fiction Native Tongue series. Láadan contains a number of words that are used to make unambiguous statements that include how one feels about what one is saying. According to Elgin, this is designed to counter language's limitations to those who are forced to respond I know I said that, but I meant this.
The bookshop is open from Friday to Sunday from 12:00 to 18:00, by appointment and during our events.
